Blessing of the Autobots

Every year in early August, Snow Hill farmers parade their combines through their streets. These gigantic machines sit like dormant Autobots laying in wait for a Decepticon attack, all the while gospel music and animal petting is occurring in the background.

The reason for this celebration, which includes food and artist vendors, is all about the combines that crowd the streets of this small town. With the encroaching harvest, the machines that will yield the year's crop are blessed for a good season. And in the process, clam fritters, scrapple, and homemade lemonade are available to all for a good ol' fashion (and very Americana) time.

That pic of Mel may give the genius event-planners in Snow Hill a new idea...how far can you roll down Greene Street in a tractor tire? Just don't eat the clam fritters and scrapple before you start the race.
