So long and thanks for all the fish.

Well, this is the inevitable, happy yet sad final "official" post of Melanie McLean and Paul Cox as this summers Host Our Coast.

Thanks to Delmarva Low Impact Tourism Experiences (DLITE), Full City Media, Makai Condominiums, Rural Development Center, Southern Delaware Tourism, Worcester County Tourism and the Township of Berlin, we were able to work at our dream job while enjoying the beautiful peninsula of Delmarva.

From exploring the Nassawango Creek by kayak, to ordering Dominoes while camping at Trap Pond, we were able to putter around this amazing region; in and out of rivers and through marshes, on the shores of Assateague and on between the cedar houses of Lewes. We were able to catch the fearsome looking horseshoe crabs as the spawned in Slaughter Beach, and watched as birds were banded for monitoring purposes.

It has been a tremendous summer of exploration and admiration of the beautiful, historical, and lively spots that dot this region. And even though this is the official last post, it will not be long before we return. We're registered and raring to run the Dogfish Dash as well as many other fall events; Delmarva has the kung-fu grip on us.

Host Our Coast will remain alive and well as a low-impact tourism brand. Everything from the Facebook Fan Page to Twitter will remain up, chatting about the on-goings of the region as Fall and Winter approach. And next year, there will certainly be a round two of this amazing opportunity.

So thank you again to all of our sponsor and to all the people who supported us and let us into their homes and places of work. We couldn't have asked for a better summer.

I am going to miss you guys! You have been GREAT hosts, and I am glad you have helped us share many of Delmarva's special nature and heritage adventures with the world.

You always have a place to crash when you are back on Delmarva. Good luck with the yard sale and weird trades. See you during the weekend of the Dogfish Dash --
