Causing some Ruckus
That roll of thunder you just heard wasn't the oncoming nor'easter... that was a band of motor-scooters wreaking havoc from Ocean City to Assateague for the annual Ruckus Ride! All over the country, scores of riders came together with one mission: show off their sweet rides, make some noise, create confusion, stop traffic, and look awesome while doing it.
The Host Our Coast team joined with riders from the Ocean City area, and some from as far as Delaware. With the sun on our backs and the wind in our faces we took to the streets, sounding horns and revving engines so as to create such a din that none could ignore our presence. Usual day-to-day traffic was more than willing to yield to our mighty horde as we plowed our way along the asphalt. We lost a few good men along the way, for sure, but breakdowns are all a part of the ride, and in due time our delayed brethren were able to catch up.
For Errol and I, this was our scooter-initiation, and we took to it more than eagerly. By the time the sortie was done and the day was over, our friends came close to resorting to crowbars, that they might pry our hands from the handlebars. We just didn't want it to end!
Special thanks goes to OC Rucks Custom Scooter Shop and Water Way's Marina on 54th street for sponsoring the ride. Click here for more information.
