Today, there was lots to do on Assateague Island, from the obvious horse-watching to cycling and watersports. But one thing had families out in numbers wading through the knee-high waters surrounding Assateague Island - Shellfishing! On the Island, you can attend one of the many shellfishing classes being offered this summer, which include a lesson on shellfishing, a demo of what to do and how to do it, and then the most fun part, getting dirty and raking through the sea bed for gems hidden away in their shells.
