Walking the Streets of Newark

You've already seen the fun we had in Newark by night, but unlike the nocturnal college crowd who partied with us, we actually did spend time on Main Street by day as well. After a good rest, Errol and I went for a sunshine promenade to see what we would find. Our first stop, as per one of my weaknesses, was Aunt Margaret's Antique Mall.

In the Heart of Queen Anne's County

I was feeling dwarfed in the presence of her majesty Queen Anne as Errol and I strolled the streets of Centreville. Streets all throughout town were lined with trees, creating a refreshing atmosphere during a stroll. I have often thought that an abundance of trees can bring any town to life, and found Centreville all the more pleasing for it. It was easy to just walk through and listen to the breeze rustling through the branches.

Good Morning, Rock Hall

If you're looking for a town where boating is king, look to Rock Hall, MD. They love boats more than fish love to drink. They have over a dozen marinas there, and that's saying a lot considering it's not a huge town. There are marinas back to back, which gives plenty of room to dock. Looking out over the docks, seeing the hundreds of masts of the yachts, was like looking into a floating forest. A major point of interest for folks who visit Rock Hall is its reputation for being among the top locations for custom boat work on the Chesapeake Bay. When we went there, we were told some 1,500 slips were in town, there were people from as far as Minnesota, Texas, and at least 40 boats from the Western Shore.

Welcome to Talbot County

Charming and quaint, St. Michaels is a town for fine dining, wine, and boats. We visited in the midst of a perfect sunny day. Families were out and about, ladies wearing their summer hats, and restaurants were hopping. Our first glimpse of Talbot Street was on the way to the Maritime Museum, and we saw it wasn't a large town by any means, but from what we gathered that's the way locals want it to be. It was nice and small, with just enough business running to keep the sidewalks full without being crowded, and one of the many things making St. Michaels worth visiting.

A Flowery Tour

The town of Lewes displays much in the way of gorgeous well-kept homes, lovely storefronts, and front-yard gardens all in plain view where any passerby can see them. To us, this told of a deep concern for aesthetics among the people of this charming town. Not everyone carries such an appreciation of beauty, and those who do aren't always willing to share. Lewes, on the other hand, wears its heart on its sleeve. A stroll down Second Street was a reminder of what a town should be: a place of leisure and friendly interaction as well as commerce. As if this wasn't enough to testify to Lewes' love of beauty, we also found out about the 20th annual Lewes Garden Tour, to which the Hosts were invited.
