RULES
The Application & Eligibility Requirements
- Online applications to fill Host Our Coast will open on February 1, 2010.
- Applicants will need to create a 60 second or less online video in English, explaining in an entertaining way why they are the right person for Host Our Coast. You must upload the video to YouTube, and paste the URL into the online application. You will also have to complete a short online application, and submit a headshot, brief bio, and a sample travel blog entry.
- All applicants must be 21 years of age or over as of May 27, 2010, have a valid U.S. driver's license and a good driving record, and be eligible for a visa (if necessary). Applicants must be in good physical and mental health.
- Initial applications close at 11:59 p.m. EST on March 15, 2010.
- Once received, all applications and videos will be posted to www.hostourcoast.com.
- Applications containing nudity, profanity, poor quality, or are submitted with an incomplete or inaccurate application form, will not be accepted.
- All applicants will receive email notification from DLITE upon receipt of the application and video.
- Applicants are encouraged to have others view their online video application on YouTube. The number of views for the video will be a factor, but not the sole determinant, in selecting the winner.
- During the two weeks of March 16 - April 1, 2010, online voting for video submissions will take place at www.hostourcoast.com. The number of votes for the video will be a factor, but is not the sole determinant, in selecting the winner.
- Selected finalists will be contacted on April 5, 2010, and asked to enter a second video submission. Finalists will have three days to complete their video assignment. Round Two videos must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on April 8, 2010.
- During the two weeks of April 9 - April 23, 2010, online voting for Round Two video submissions will take place at www.hostourcoast.com. The number of votes for the video will be a factor, but is not the sole determinant, in selecting the winner.
- DLITE representatives will conduct telephone interviews for the top applicants between April 24 - May 6, 2010. The winner of Host Our Coast will be selected by May 7, 2010. At that time, the winner will be notified, but not announced publicly.
- The winner of Host Our Coast will be publicly announced on May 27, 2010.
- While contracted by DLITE, the successful applicant will be provided with daily assignments that allow them to explore and experience the nature and heritage of the Delmarva Peninsula, and showcase their experiences through an online video and photo gallery, and a daily blog. The successful applicant must establish a presence on social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter. DLITE will be entitled to use your application, name, likeness, appearance, voice and biographical information for its promotional and publicity purposes.
- Your involvement in the selection process and your contract is entirely at your own risk. You agree to release Delmarva Low-Impact Tourism Experiences (DLITE) and their nominees, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, and all others connected with the selection process and your employment, from any and all claims, actions, damages, liabilities, losses, costs and expenses, in any way arising out of or resulting from your involvement in the selection process and your contract, including, without limitation, any and all claims, actions, and liabilities for injury, loss or damage to you, to anyone else or to any property, regardless of whether or not such injury, loss or damage was caused by the negligence or misconduct of DLITE and their nominees or any of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives or employees, or anyone else connected with the selection process and your contract. You agree to indemnify DLITE and their nominees and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, and all others connected with the project and hold them harmless from any and all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, expenses and losses (including, without limitation, legal fees) of any kind or nature whatsoever in any way caused by or arising out of your involvement in the selection process and your contract.
- The successful applicant will behave in an appropriate and professional manner as befitting their potential representation of DLITE.
- Any inappropriate, illegal or immoral behavior on the part of the successful applicant will result in termination and forfeiture of position benefits.
Contract Conditions
The successful applicant will be required to enter into a contract with DLITE incorporating the following conditions. All applicants must confirm their acceptance of these conditions.
- You must be available for a three-month contract period from May 27, 2010 to August 27, 2010. The three-month period must be contiguous, and must be completed before August 27, 2010.
- You are responsible for making any necessary arrangements with your employer and family in anticipation of the three-month contract.
- Contract responsibilities will include the following:
- Each week of the contract, providing five 2 to 3 minute online videos, two vlogs, daily blog posts (with responses), three photo posts, and online announcements of your activity through Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites;
- Travel to various locations on the Delmarva Peninsula as required;
- Represent DLITE at various functions;
- Be a DLITE "Ambassador" and participate in media interviews as required;
- Act responsibly at all times and in accordance with the reasonable directions of DLITE.
- During the contract period, you must:
- Act responsibly and demonstrate good moral character;
- You must be willing and able to participate in the various activities available on the Delmarva Peninsula, including but not limited to kayaking, cycling, hiking, swimming, fishing, and visiting parks, heritage sites, and museums.
- Should these requirements not be met, DLITE shall be entitled to terminate the contract agreement at its absolute discretion.
- U.S. $15,000 will be paid to the successful applicant, and the applicant will be responsible for all applicable taxes and fees. The wage will be paid in three installments during the contract period. The successful applicant will serve as an independent contractor, and not as an employee of DLITE.
- DLITE will provide all living accommodations during the contract period. DLITE will provide operating supplies and mileage. However, you will be responsible for the cost of all meals, beverages, telephone, internet, and personal items. You will also be responsible for your own transportation, and for providing your own cameras, computer, and editing software.
- The successful applicant, as a representative of DLITE, will act in an appropriate and professional manner and not engage in any activity or undertaking which brings disrepute or cause damage of reputation to DLITE.
- The successful applicant will exercise reasonable skill, care and diligence in the performance of the services in accordance with the standards of DLITE.
- DLITE will own all intellectual property in videos, blogs, photos and other material created by the successful applicant in the course of their contract.
- DLITE reserves the right to monitor and edit material produced by the successful applicant in line with its corporate communication and marketing guidelines.
